Principal Designer

An esteemed consultancy located in Sheffield is actively seeking a Principal Designer, a professional eager to spearhead a range of projects from their inception to completion. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Principal Designer who thrives on diversity in their professional environment.

The firm is involved in an array of projects, encompassing sectors such as Housing, Retail, Commercial, and Educational. This variety ensures that the Principal Designer role remains engaging and varied, providing a dynamic work experience.

As the Principal Designer, the individual will collaborate closely with clients to ensure compliance with CDM regulations, whilst also offering essential Health and Safety guidance. The role demands a flexible approach, with the Principal Designer expected to travel between various sites, adapting seamlessly to each unique project.

Joining a compact team, which includes two CDM Advisors, the Principal Designer will assume a leadership position. This role not only involves guiding project direction but also encompasses the responsibility of enhancing the skill set of the team, fostering professional growth within the group.

Responsibilities of the Principal Designer:

• Supply pre-construction information
• Develop Construction Phase Plans (CPPs)
• Advise and assist the client in fulfilling their duties under CDM regulations and other construction-related health and safety standards, regulations, and legislation
• Assist duty holders in creating Pre-Construction Information (PCIs)
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015

Requirements for a Successful CDM Principal Designer:

• Minimum NEBOSH General and Construction Certificate
• Preferred NEBOSH Diploma Level 6
• IOSH Membership
• Membership in the Association of Project Safety (APS) is desirable
• Qualification in an engineering, design, or construction-related discipline
• A profound understanding of CDM2015
• Construction Experience across one or more of the above sectors
