A unique opportunity to become an integral part of the senior management team and the 'go to person' as Health and Safety Manager within this fast paced and well-established transport division based in Hatfield.

Ideally the successful candidate will have experience within Transport or Logistics and have a solid understanding of implementing health and safety protocols. A significant focus will be on ensuring saftey around large moving vehicles, workshops and flammable materials held on site. This is very much a role to make your own with responsibility for training co-ordination, transport movement, chemical storage. Your background may be either road transport, haulage, petrochemicals or milatary and health and safety a new string to your bow.

The Role

  • Responsibility for ensuring compliance with current Health and Safety Regulations
  • Keeping Senior Management informed via compliance monitoring
  • Undertaking of Health and Safety training as required
  • Educate and coach staff with regard to all things health and safety
  • Undertake COSHH, premises walk-rounds, risk assessments and periodic inspections
  • Training Matrix co-ordination
  • Engage with the Estates teams and external contractors on site
  • Provide reports for senior management team and Board members.

The Head of Safety/Health and Safety Manager

  • Ideally Degree education is preferred but not essential
  • Nebosh General or NCRQ equivalent
  • Understanding of Health and Safety Regulations and Guidelines
  • Ability to engage at all levels
  • Transport or Logistics background, ex Military background may be advantageous too
  • Previous experience of COSHH the ideal but not essential
