The Building Control Surveyor Role
As the Building Control Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all building projects comply with current regulations and standards. You will work closely with the design and construction teams, as well as external consultants, to review and assess plans, inspect construction progress, and ensure that all work meets legal requirements.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Building Control Surveyor to work across a variety of exciting projects, from retail and office developments to complex residential and regeneration schemes.
Building Control Surveyor Key Responsibilities
- Assess and review building designs to ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations
- Conduct site inspections to ensure construction works adhere to safety and structural standards
- Provide expert advice on building control matters to architects, engineers, and contractors
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for regulatory approval
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to resolve any issues or concerns
The Successful Building Control Surveyor
- Proven experience as a Building Control Surveyor within a consultancy or local authority
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and compliance requirements
- A relevant degree in Building Control, Surveying, or Construction-related disciplines
- Membership with a professional body (such as RICS, CABE, or CIOB) is desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams
